How to Configure UTunnel Windows VPN Client

This guide explains the features of UTunnel’s Windows VPN client application, along with instructions on how to configure and use it. You must first download and install the Windows VPN client application.

Logging in to Windows VPN Client

1. Personal Account Login: Personal account users can log in to the Windows VPN client by entering their email address and password into the respective fields in the Personal Account tab, followed by clicking on the Login button.

2. Business Account Login: Business account users need to switch to the Business Account tab in the VPN client app, enter their organization’s portal name into the field, and click on the Submit button.

If your Organization’s user authentication is managed with SSO, you will be redirected to the respective identity provider’s login page to sign in with their SSO credentials.

In the case of a Non-SSO Organization, users can log in by entering their email and password into the Business Account login screen in the client app and clicking on the Login button.

 

Connecting to the VPN

Once logged in, the Connect tab will be active in the client. The currently selected VPN Gateway name and VPN IP address will be displayed at the top of the page. The VPN protocol and Access Gateway Type (Cloud/On-Premise) will be displayed at the bottom of the page, right above the Connect VPN button.

To connect to the displayed VPN gateway, click on the Connect VPN button. If you want to change the VPN gateway or the VPN protocol, click on the Change button, and it will take you to the Access Gateway page.

 

Selecting a VPN Gateway and VPN Protocol

You can view the list of VPN gateways from the Access Gateway tab in the client app. Click on your preferred VPN Gateway, which will expand to show the available VPN protocols, and click the connect toggle button.

Select your preferred protocol and click the toggle button to connect to the VPN gateway.

 

Connecting to the MeshConnect Network

The MeshConnect tab contains a detailed list of available mesh networks. Click on the Refresh button to refresh the list of available networks. You can connect to your preferred network by clicking the connect toggle button next to the mesh network name.

You can also view the mesh network connection details from the Connect tab. You can disconnect the mesh network connection using the Disconnect VPN button, while the Change button takes you to the MeshConnect tab, from where you can change the current mesh network to another one of your choice.

 

Manage VPN Client Settings

Navigate to the Settings tab to manage your VPN client application settings. Here, you can switch the:

  • Enable the app to attempt a reconnection if the VPN disconnects unexpectedly.
  • Enable or disable VPN connection notifications in the Windows 11 Action Center.
  • Decide if you want to send the application to the Windows system tray or exit the application when you close the application using the X button on the top right corner.
  • Enable the application to launch at system startup and initiate auto-connect.

Once you make the necessary changes, click on the Save button to save the changes.

 

Access VPN Client Application Logs

To access application logs from the Windows application, navigate to the Settings tab and click on the Get Log button. See here for a more detailed guide on how to access VPN client logs on Windows.

 

Change UTunnel Account Password

To change your UTunnel account password, navigate to the Account tab. Input your old password and new password in the respective columns, and click on the Change Password button.

Please note that the Change Password option is not available for Single-Sign-On enabled account users.

 

Logging out of UTunnel Windows VPN Client

To log out of your UTunnel Windows VPN client, click on the Logout button in the Accounts tab.

You will be asked to confirm if you want to log out. Click the Yes button if you want to proceed with logging out.

 

Manage VPN Client from Windows System Tray

When the UTunnel Windows VPN client is running, you will be able to see the app icon in the Windows system tray.

You can connect/disconnect the VPN, open the client app screen, or quit the application by right-clicking the UTunnel VPN app icon.
